The Republic of Uzbekistan gained independence in 1991, after being part of the former Soviet Union since 1924, and it has begun its transition to a market economy. Uzbekistan has a varied landscape that includes a rolling sandy desert, mountains along the border with Tajikistan, and the Aral Sea in the west. Uzbekistan has a mixed economy in which there is limited private freedom, but the economy remains highly controlled by the government.
Languages: Some 74.3 percent of the population speaks Uzbek, 14.2 percent Russian, and 4.4 percent Tajik.
Climate: The climate of landlocked Uzbekistan is continental, with hot summers and cool winters. Summer temperatures reach 40°C, averaging 32°C. Winter temperatures reach –38°C, averaging –23°C. Rainfall averages vary between 100 millimeters per year in the northwest and 800 millimeters per year in the Tashkent region. Precipitation falls mainly in the winter and spring.

Established: 1876
Fergana, or Ferghana, is the capital of Fergana Region in eastern Uzbekistan. Fergana is about 420 km east of Tashkent, about 75 km west of Andijan, and less than 20 km from the Kyrgyzstan border. While the area has been populated for thousands of years, the modern city was founded in 1876. Fergana region is one of the centers of ancient culture of Uzbekistan. Pictures of Stone Age settlements and rocks found in the area, stone tools indicate that people have lived in the valley since ancient times. Excavation of the Greater Fergana Canal has played an important role in the study of archeological monuments of the region. During the excavation of the canal, monuments of the Bronze Age, slavery and landownership were found and examined. Finds from the 5th century BC and early Middle Ages in the city of Kuva are well researched. Historical sources from the 10th to the 11th centuries state that this city was the largest city in the valley after Akhsikat in terms of prosperity
and size. Archaeological materials prove that the city of Margilan was a large village in the 10th century and took on the appearance of a village in the 11th-12th centuries.
At present, 38 large industrial enterprises, 7930 small industrial enterprises, 446 joint ventures include the Fergana Oil Refinery, the Azot Production Association, the Quvasoy Quartz Joint-Stock Company, the Eurasian TAPO-Disk, Avtooyna, and DEU Textile joint ventures. They export oil, cotton, food, canned goods, construction materials, car discs, spare parts and agricultural products and other products to foreign countries.
In 1991, there were only 17 stadiums in Fergana region, now there are 46, 759 football fields, 33 modern tennis courts. In May 2016, the final stage of the Universiade-2016 was held in Fergana.
Today, 946 secondary schools, academic lyceums , 1,870 pres chool education institutions and 20 libraries operate in the region. There are 5 higher education institutions in the region: Fergana State University, Fergana PolytechnicInstitute, Kokand State Pedagogical Institute, Tashkent University of Information Technologies Fergana branch, Tashkent Medical Academy Fergana branch.
Dr. Sidikov Akmal Abdikakharovich was born on June 20, 1987 in the Tashkent region. In 2009 he graduated from St. Petersburg State Medical University. Pediatrician by specialty. Doctor of Medical Sciences (DSc). In 2013, he increased his research and clinical practice e x p e r i e n c e i n d e r m a t o l o g y a n d dermatooncology at the University of Edinburgh Clinic. In 2014, he enhanced his research and clinical practice experience in dermatology and dermatopathology at the University of Bonn Clinic. In 2015, he gained scientific and clinical experience in dermatopathology and dermatooncology at the clinic of Sharite University in Plezen, Czech Republic.
Full member of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology since 2012 Full member of the European Dermatological Research Team since 2013.
Author and coauthor of more than 80 scientific papers, including 6 inventions in the field of d e r m a t o l o g y , d e r m a t o p a t h o l o g y , dermatooncology, 5 studies manual, 1 federal clinical recommendation, 5 monographs and 2 methodological manuals have been published in prestigious journals in Russia and Europe. 2014 Award winner for young scientists, candidates of science from universities and research institutions located in the St. Petersburg region.
Candidate for the 2018 Presidential Award for Science and Innovation for Young Scientists. Winner of the 2019 Michael Hornstein European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Award. In 2020 he was awarded the badge “Mehr Sakhovat”, established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated May 22, 2020.

Fergana medical institute of Public health is a renowned university of Uzbekistan. It is a government medical university, founded in 1930 in Fergana city of Uzbekistan. It was initially established as a medical center but as per the executive order of the cabinet ministers, it had received the status of Fergana state university in 1991. Since then the institution went through several structural changes.At present, Fergana Medical University has 147 professors in 19 different departments. Some of them have Ph.D. scholars, experienced doctors, associate professors.
Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health has introduced the latest technologies in its teaching methods. It offers various faculties for the medical students including General Medicine, preventive medicine, higher nursing, biomedical engineering, and many more.
Currently, around 250 students are studying medicine from countries like India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Nigeria. Hence students get the chance to study in an environment with a great diversity of students.

CLASSES:
In FMIPH, Lecture Hall and Rooms are architecturally and aesthetically well designed and are well ventilated. The furniture in the rooms is specially designed for comfort sitting of the students. In addition to the traditional blackboards, to make the teaching-learning process multidimensional, multimedia over-head projectors and LCD projectors are used. Moreover, the faculty adopts not simply the traditional lecture methodology, but also holds group discussion, quiz session, debates and other learner-centered modules. Various other audiovisual aids are also used to enrich the teaching learning processes.

Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIPH) library is one of the best reference Library & information centre in the field of medical sciences in Uzbekistan having huge repository of books, bound journals, thesis and online journals in the field of medical sciences. Supported by large well-ventilated reading-room this library acts as a main learning resource center of the Institute.
LABS
:
The University has well occupied air-conditioned laboratory with all the latest equipment to carry out clinical experiments to obtain information about health of a patient to aid in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The laboratory is also equipped with different manikins. These manikins, also known as virtual patients, have similar weight distribution as that found in humans. Our lab has manikins for skills such as CPR, intramuscular injection, catheterisation, suture procedure etc. We organise hands-on training sessions for students throughout the year.
CONFERENCE ROOM

The University has well-furnished conference hall to conduct various academic activities like group discussions, interactions, EDPs, seminars, presentations and conferences. It also allows for a variety of setups for break-out sessions, workshops, or retreats. The infrastructure has been designed with the modern techniques to provide students with a realistic feel of corporate and business meetings.

FMIPH provides separate hostel facility for both boys & girls. The hostels with 1500 bed capacity are equipped with all latest amenities for a comfortable and homely stay. Students are required to pay extra for availing these facilities according to the hostel norms.
