KYRGYZ STATE MEDICAL ACADEMY (KSMA) also known as
I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz state medical academy named after
ISA KONOEVICH AKHUNBAEV is one of the oldest medical university of Kyrgyzstan.
History of KSMA
On April 16, 1939, the Resolution
Of council of people’s commissars was accepted by Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic which state to open Kyrgyz State Medical Institute on 1st September 1939, in the city of Frunze now known as Bishkek Capital of Kyrgyzstan. The base of the medical institute was set up by the faculties from Kiev, Moscow, Kharkov, St. Petersburg.
The institute was started with 120 medical students in 1939 and the first batch of graduate doctors received their degree in 1943.
On July 5, 1996, by the Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute was renamed as Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA).

ABOUT KSMA
I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy is the leading medical academy from the past 80 years in Kyrgyzstan.
Academy is equipped with all modern day medical equipment’s, hospitals, and 600 teaching and training staff.
Currently approx. 6,000 students are studying in the academy from 19 different countries.
Mode of instruction is English, Russian and Kyrgyz and it’s upon the student to choose that in which mode student want to get enrolled.
Duration of MD program (equivalent to MBBS in India) is of 5 years from September 2018. Before September 2018 all the universities of Kyrgyz Republic use to have 6 years MD program except ISM. In 2018 Ministry of Health and Education passed the resolution stating that the MD program will be of 5 years only.

The tuition fee of KSMA is 4,000$ per year.
