Samara State Medical University has been following an innovative path of development for over 100 years .currently it is one of the leading medical universities in Russia. Our partners include leading universities, research institutes and the largest companies in the country.
SamSMU is widely known outsite of Russia. The geographic reach of students, scientists and specialists at the university is expending every year.Students from 34 regions of the Russian Federation and 32 countries study at the University. The ‘General Medicine’specialty is taught in English.
In 2021 ,SamSMU won the federal “Priority 2030” competition for strategic academic leadership taking a place among the best universities in the “Sectoral and/or territorial leadership”category. As a strategic goal,samSMU chose to become the driver for the development of the high-tech “Information technologies in healthcare”economy sector by 2030 .The University has ateam that designs and implements a new model of a modern medical university.
We shifted the focus to applied and product- related activities, identifying bionics, biotechnology, neurotechnology and biomarker-driven strategy as priorities.
SamSMU is the leader in the area of innovation. The university developed and implemented a unique model of full-cycle scientific and innovative development of a range of original and import-substituting high-tech medical devices and services. Our products are used at the medical institutions in Russia and abroad.
The SamSMU Clinics are a modern medical, scientific and educational complex, comprising 57 medical units. It provides medical care in more than 50 specialized areas to patients from Russia and abroad, while applying own innovative approaches and developments in medical care. The Clinics successfully provide high-tech medical care in the areas of organ transplantation, hematology, cardiac surgery and joint replacement.
We continue to develop, following the global trend of applying innovative technologies in medicine. The University has unique scientific foundations in the field of digital healthcare, biomedicine and neuroscience using artificial intelligence, big data, AR/VR. INSTITUTE OF PEDIATRICS
Graduates receive the qualification of “Pediatrician” and can continue their studies in clinical residency both in pediatrics and in the chosen focused specialty in the areas of children’s or adult medicine.
INSTITUTE OF PHARMACY
The Institute trains students in the specialty of “Pharmacy”. Graduates work in pharmaceutical companies
and manufacturing facilities, in the distribution sector of the pharmaceutical market, at the centers for drug quality control, in health management bodies. After 5 years of training, graduates of the Institute that have attained the qualification of “Pharmacist” can continue their studies in residency or choose postgraduate studies, becoming a specialist in “Management and Economics of Pharmacy”, “Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy”, “Pharmaceutical Technology”.
INSTITUTE OF DENTISTRY
Graduates of the Institute of Dentistry can work as GP dentists and upon completion of their residency – as GP dentists, dental therapists, orthopaedic dentists, dental surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons or orthodontists.
INSTITUTE OF PREVENTIVE MEDICINE
The Institute trains students in the “Medical and preventive care” specialty. Graduates can work as general hygiene specialists, epidemiologists in organizations of Rospotrebnadzor and healthcare institutions, and if they choose to continue their studies –as specialists in clinical laboratory diagnostics, medical microbiology, etc.
INSTITUTE OF NURSING
The Institute trains students in the areas of “Nursing” (bachelor’s degree), “Public Health” (Master’s degree), in the “General Medicine” specialty (secondary vocational education). Continuous professional education: professional retraining and professional development in 16 specialties.
INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL, HUMANITARIAN AND DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT OF MEDICINE
The Institute trains students in the “Clinical Psychology” and “Medical Cybernetics” specialties. Graduates of the specialty “Clinical Psychology” work in health care, education, social care institutions, in business, management and manufacturing. A doctor cybernetist’s education uniquely combines medicine and cybernetics. Specialists in medical cybernetics work at the intersection of computer science, physics, biology and medicine. They can hold scientific, teaching and medical positions at healthcare institutions and other organizations requiring specialists skilled in the development and implementation of medical information technologies.

The SamSMU Clinics are a state-of-the-art medical, educational and scientific complex that ensures accessibility and high quality of medical care for the population in Samara, the Volga region and internationally.
